01 November 2010 - NS Phase

starting tomorrow, its another new phase. barging into a new environment, surrounded by the many people with unfamiliar faces, having to live with them and to adapt the new lifestyle inside.

looking back since after the exams, the days passed in a blink of an eye. 8 months..how fast it flew. feeling frustrated with the fact that I needed to think of what to do for the following months, I tried looking for jobs online but failed umpteen times. it was then, through the IT fair I had worked during the 4 days for part time, I was brought into the IT world, taught by the correct person fortunately.

I learnt many things, the experience, the attitude of different types of people like how absurd and ridiculous they can be or perhaps the nice and easygoing customers where you would treat them like they are your friends, building good relations at the end of the day. I met many people in my workplace, there are those who backstabs, there are those who are arrogant, there is sadly, only a few who are nice. I belonged to the arrogant groupings, for I seldom socialize with those from other showrooms. I find them very fake sometimes, I couldn't stand the facade and the many commotions created at times, but then again...if I just ignored everything and just do my own sales, life would be much easier.

during work, I felt stress for the first few months. I kept ranting about how bad my sales was, but it was all because of my own mistake that I felt that unnecessary anxiety. I learnt how to relax after a long time, and indeed it proved effective. there are some matters you can't make haste with...so we just have to take a step at a time, even if its going to take us long.

5 plus months passed by then, and I guess I needed a break for a month before I get enlisted. there were many days which were hard to pass by, because I had nothing to do throughout the weekdays. time ticked slowly whenever I was alone at home. my desktop's my only companion and nothing else.

some of the days however, were outings with lots of fun, some in which I wouldn't want to forget. time flies during the outing, and I always hoped for the impossible - hoping time would stop for that few moments, letting me spend more time with the people I want..just like two days ago as from this date..someone made me felt so speechless, but I always liked the way we laughed at stupid things. even though I hardly spoke, deep down I felt exuberant..for those laughter and smiles were deemed priceless, especially Yours.

today's the last day before I shift to the new phase. I packed all my stuffs damn slowly, feeling frustrated with a few things. I had so much things to say, yet all I do is keeping everything inside like a tortoise or a snail who would hide in its own shell. that agony in me, its a little heavy..

I always wanted to tell you how awesome you are, but well..guess I could only say it here though..haha..how lame I am.

everything aside now. I guess I should put my focus into the academy now.

10-12 days, it will fly pass fast I hope !

06 September 2010 - Remembering That Bright Eyes

Comex is over at last, and as usual, we moved the stocks back to the respective locations until dawn, and then reported for work by 12.

so what happened 3 months ago repeated itself - I was late, for almost 2 hours -_-! sigh.

after work yesterday, we stayed inside and waited until 12 midnight before the stocks came to SLS, and then the shifting started. while waiting, I was reminiscing certain things...

A particular type of food,
An expression that caught all my attention,
An oh-so-happy expression that I always want to see,
A pair of bright eyes enough to make the stars look like they ain't shining.

ok maybe the last one is kinda exaggerating but then again, its special in my opinion.

as the days passed on, I realise October is arriving in just 3 weeks time, whereby I will be "fired", making me officially jobless...and then probably enjoy that 1 month I have, and then off to shave my head and be a lousy policeman.

2 years, what would things be like..I wonder..just can't put certain things into words perhaps...

31 August 2010 - Last Day of The Month

I'm getting more and more nua-ed each and every day. because of the upcoming Comex, most of the people are just strolling around SLS, and then tell you they will probably wait for it to come. practically, I rotted the whole day today, as the crowd was simply as good as dead - the worst day of all days that I've worked throughout the months.

I questioned myself, whether I still had that determination in me. sometimes I realized that I lost the heart to commit myself into doing sales when I got zero sales for few consecutive days. I become more complacent, having the tendency to pick customers nowadays. I hate serving netbooks, because its a waste of my time in my own opinion. its a wrong thinking...but then sometimes we just can't help it. nobody likes to sell netbook seriously..

my GP for the month is like crap, the worst compared to the other previous 3 months. then again, now that this month is gonna be over, I suppose we should just leave it be now, forget this month and aim to strive for a new month...

CHIONG AHHHHHHHHHH !

28 August 2010 - The Way Society Works

well, I'm getting sick and tired of

1) facing petty people who wanna argue over small matters
2) thinks they are way more superior just because they worked in the company longer
3) people who tries to exaggerate matters

seriously, what the fuck do they gain? I suppose I have to wear mask everyday.

yeah, This is The Way Society Works.

up till now, I guess I can only put my trust into a couple of people...1 hand is enough to count them all.

25 August 2010 - Being Way Too Serious

I feel like a workaholic, I like doing sales. I like steady customers who agree readily which enables me to provide better technical service for them.

I like to be serious, in fact way too serious, to prove that I'm capable of doing sales. I want to grab hold of every details possible in terms of promotions and everything, so that I'm able to focus and provide full details to all my customers..

which consumer wouldn't want discrete details? who wouldn't want more understanding when they are purchasing something so expensive?

some people may not approve of the way I work, maybe I'm too aggressive sometimes, or perhaps pisses them off over small matters, but if I'm bothered about such trivial stuffs every single time, I will never be able to do my sales well.

I still have lots of mental training that needs to be done. I'm not good enough, in fact...not even at the level of being a real salesperson yet. a few say I have the potential, but then again, do I really have it? I can't think calmly when I'm a little bit anxious...maybe its because I fear customers would walk away somehow.

now I realised I need to change this thinking.

I should have much more confidence, firstly to be able to Fully Convince Customers what suits them best. Secondly to be able to divert and focus each and every brand wherever possible. but no, I ain't got the skills yet.

I know I'm just working for 1 more month, but then again, I really wish I could make out the best for this last month. I want to be proud of myself, to be able to achieve something.

so now, I shall be more daring from next month on !

24 August 2010 - The Crowd Gets Lesser

sales has been very bad recently. I'm not exactly sure why but probably its because that its the Ghost Festival. the crowd is lesser than usual..there are much fewer people who purchase notebooks nowadays.

until now, I haven't even hit my target. I realized that I'm only left with 7 days to achieve 2k, which means averagely I need to achieve 300...how is it possible zzzzzzzz~

alright nevermind, I guess I shall try my best somehow..

I can do it, right?

16 August 2010 - Pay Rise !!

after working for 4 months...my basic pay finally increased !!

only by 100 though..so now basically my pay is $1100 + the rest of the commission. well thats better than having nothing right? at least my effort was proven to be there but still, I guess I'm not good enough still.

I aim higher than I usually can achieve step by step. so now I'm actually aiming to hit more Cash Incentives and Gross Profit for the month...but I guess GP is very difficult to hit sometimes especially when sales has been bad recently.

but I'm glad my CI has already reached more than 300 in 15 days time. so in average I suppose my CI would be abt 500 to 600. plus the rest of the incentives and all, I guess I can get pretty good salary. heh.

well, I had fun today text messaging a Miss-toss-the-phone and playing table tennis after work. and now I'm like so damn nua already..

I hope time can prove my sincerity, I guess I'm starting to get natural with you and won't feel too nervous, which I believe is a good thing =)

12 August 2010 - Blind Customer

so I came across a very fussy customer yesterday, who was very demanding and everything. after a long struggle, he finally bought one notebook.

but one thing that got me extremely irritated was that he kept fussing about whether the screen was LED or LCD when there was no way to check through the hardware status. he kept fussing about it for like 30 minutes. I swear I was so annoyed that I didn't felt like doing his business. I had to make Tongfen wait for hours because I had to run up and down the whole day.

so after convincing him in 3 different ways, he finally bought it and left. when he got home, he was so angry that I didn't pass him the adapter (oh you'll know what happens next). he called and screamed over the phone here and there, claiming that the adapter was not inside.

so the call was somehow like this:

Me: "yes Mr, you said you cannot find your adapter inside?"

Old Man: "YES, I REALLY HATE SUCH SITUATIONS MAN, NOW I HAVE TO COME ALL THE WAY BACK, NOW GOT TRAFFIC JAM YOU KNOW ! WHAT TIME YOUR SHOP CLOSE? YOU MUST WAIT FOR ME I TELL YOU"

Me: "yeah we close at 8, are you sure you checked the box thoroughly?"

Old Man: "YES LAH !@#$%!@#"
and he simply went blahblahblah.

so well, that got me even more pissed off. but the fact was I myself did not check whether everything was inside before he left. so when he came back he didn't really raise his voice but I could feel that he was quite irritated because he keep saying its a waste of his time, and don't waste his time. I tapped him on the shoulder and apologised, and requested that he passed me his box.

and so I opened it, showed the adapter right in front of his face so as to keep his mouth shut. the most wtf thing was, he said his maid almost threw that away. after returning him the box I said
"please check properly next time, had your maid threw that box away, good luck to you."
embarrassed, he left hurriedly, probably afraid of further embarrassment.

thanks dude. if you ain't an old man, I would have blasted you just like how you blasted me through the bloody phone.

I was so pissed before he came, I told Tongfen I will blast him if I managed to find the adapter inside the box. apparently I didn't, because of his age. but well, working for that few months, he is the worst customer I ever came across so far. for the sake of that $40, I think my life shortened by 40 months -_-

probably next time I will be facing more challenging customers that may come out with more stunts, then my life would be shortened even further.

Conclusion is, Fucked up customers, I provide such Fucked up service. Period.

09 August 2010 - The Night Walk

Went out with a few of my colleagues after work. we just wandered aimlessly, and though it sounded boring, I felt exuberant.

I told myself, that someday I wanna go there and play. I hope I get the chance to go there and see the vast sky at the roof there !

Would there be another time where we can hang out just like this..

19 July 2010 - Backtrack, Balance

maybe there isn't much things to blog about for these few weeks. its all the same old thing about work work and work.

its been a long time since I've looked back at certain things..come to think of it, I guess I'm still trying to put behind so many things. it would seem that a person's true value will not be there, if priorities isn't set to be balanced for each other.

then again, everyone knows its almost an impossible thing to do to make things balanced.

time to go to work.

13 July 2010 - Its Not About Money, Its About Character

again, I'm referring to my work. if its boring just skip it for all you want, because my life is plainly about work as of now, except that I have an off day today and that I have nothing to do.

back then, I put too much stress on myself, and I felt damn nervous and everything when doing sales. I guess its partly because of money factor. the rest is, characteristics. I probably need potential customers who have a budget and just buy what they want once they have it. but apparently most of them are...well, whatever.

so yesterday, though there wasn't any sales for me, I felt a little bit more relaxed. it was boring, because there wasn't any crowd. not much sales were done and all.

guess I shall buck up and do better, with the mentality that, money's aside, but training personality instead.

10 July 2010 - Tension

I put too much stress to myself. many times. I have a problem I put in myself that hinders me from doing sales with all my will.

I really fucking hate myself whenever it comes to this end. I get pissed for nothing. I cannot hold my temper well enough.

maybe I'm just being selfish and unfair. I must really change.

Tomorrow I gonna try...

08 July 2010 - When One Really Grows Up

I came across a story that I heard from someone, and I would like to share it with all the readers here.

often at our age, between 20 to 30, we would probably have considered ourselves to be adults. physically that may be true, but what about the mental part? it may not be the case.

in the growing up process where one really becomes mature which is one of the toughest things in life, it all begins with the simplest things in life...like volunteering to help your mother with housework (if you don't have a maid) all of a sudden especially when you have never done it at all. your mother's first reaction would probably be "gosh is this my child?! has he/she grown up??" such miracles do happen I would say. these simple things, train your determination, your mentality, and ultimately gets rid of the laziness in you.

in work, we face all sorts of people, from those very friendly to those damn nasty ones. usually, when you ask help from someone nasty, they probably wouldn't help you. so the norm would be, you wouldn't do them a favour as well if they ever need one from you. but what about if...someone nasty who once didn't help you, suddenly needs you to do something for him/her, and that you are still willing to help without making complaints?

the point is - how would the nasty person feel and think? instead of having the thoughts that the person takes you for granted, the more possible conclusion is that the person may feel that, you are actually someone who is worth helping. so no matter how nasty that person is, he/she would give you a hand when you need help again one day, and be supportive of you more or less.

when someone is nasty to you, and you are willing to control your temper and be at absolute calm even after everything, thats when you have already grown up. unless that person is going overboard, and keeps bombarding nonsense for no particular reason then yes, go ahead and argue about it. because that guy probably did not give a second thought before he/she created that nonsense.

another thing is, when you are nasty to someone, do you actually feel how they feel? most people don't, that includes myself most of the time. when it comes to teaching, there are 3 kinds of people

1) one who learns/listen through proper talking, probably from anyone
2) one who learns/listen through nasty scoldings from the higher ups
3) one who learns/listen nothing despite those two methods from anyone

of course, the third kind of people are long hopeless. but the first two are still able to learn and listen, though the methods are different.

all these, are endurance/tolerance. it is not easy to really apply everything above, even though talking about it seems easy. temperamental control, determination, and the many things you need to overcome. when you have more responsibilities, the stress loaded on work is greater. but it is exactly because of all these that you need to learn and overcome, you become more mature.

the conclusion I got for myself at the end of the day after hearing the story is that,
I am actually very short tempered instead of someone who have loads of patience.
I get pissed off very easily when I get distracted, especially when sales gone bad.
I'm smart because I learn things I like fast,
but I get lazy and complacent sometimes.
I'm far from being mature as of now. only when I'm able to really endure and tolerate, then I would probably consider myself as a grown up.
I still have loads to learn.

its a start for me now, to learn all these step by step. call it a pre-mental training before I step into NS perhaps.

P.S: The time where I blogged is utterly insane.

05 July 2010 - The Iron Rule

I'm leading a no-life lifestyle right now. its all about work. I get kinda pissed with the fact that sometimes I do things that are not up to my own expectations.

I stress myself a lot, hoping to do as much as I can. but there are times I really make big mistakes and I did not realize until people tell me. own flaws are hard to discover of course...but now that I know where I've done wrong, changes need to be done.

I mustn't rush into things, and just do things my own way in terms of serving customers. so long I do my part without grave mistakes, things should be fine.

but I've got big ego, so there are times I rather abandon small sales than to pick them up. I rather tell customers to get lost than to lower my pride and tell them things nicely when they are so rude and fucked up.

Good Customers, Good Service. This is the Iron Rule I learn from the upper ups and I apply them.
so if the customer is very nice and sincere, I'm willing to do my best to fulfill their requirements.

and I guess, as a salesperson, whatever price I quote is up to my liking. I don't really need to be concerned about what others think of me do I? I believe each and everyone has their own style of doing sales.

01 July 2010 - New Month, New Target

after working consecutively for 2 weeks, I finally took 2 off days from work. but I must say, time flies faster when I'm at work. day by day passed, many things happened (and most of them are none of my concerns).

staying at home the whole day is utterly boring. most of the people are in camp right now, and so I'm all alone still. I'm more used to hanging out with my colleagues every now and then.

every work has their own difficulties though, facing some people who are petty and whatnot, and we just have to turn a blind eye. I'm glad I've achieved my sales target, better than last month in fact.

and so its a new month, time to achieve new target to aim higher.

I'm left with just a few days, to catch up with you.

26 June 2010 - Lacking Guts

physically drained. I have been working without off day for this week, and my next week off would be on a Thursday and Friday.

its still damn far away. I'm feeling more and more tired after each day passed...

my mum called me back in the afternoon and asked whether I took off for the week. we haven't seen each other for about a week even though we are at home every day.

this is how the cycle goes - she goes to work, I'm still asleep. when I'm awake, I'm alone at home. when I'm back from work, she is asleep by then. she probably missed me

maybe I should head home earlier tomorrow after work, so that I would reach home before she goes to bed..

She's leaving soon, and yet I lack the guts to approach her. Useless guy I am.

18 June 2010 - Without the Heart to Learn

why would people work when they don't have the heart to learn? it is forgivable if they are slow, as long as they are willing to learn from their mistakes. but it is absurd when it comes to making the same mistakes over and over again.

this isn't like studying, whereby people are forced to study even if they don't out their heart into it. basically study for the sake of studying. but when it comes to work, you get to choose which profession you want to be. however, with such attitude, how far would one go if they just daze all day long and not trying to learn when they have the time.

Brochures are already hanged outside so big that no one would miss it, cost book are always there for reference, but I don't understand why refer also will refer wrongly. I don't think numbers are that hard to understand. accessories that are brought back to us are not for free. it is not meant to throw at customers without cost deducted from the earnings made.

worse still, I thought one of the notebooks stolen by people in the showroom. why? because the wrong serial number was given to me. I panicked the whole fucking day until I went to search high and low for it, play the CCTV that were placed in the showroom to recap where I had exactly put it. I know I'm meticulous enough not to misplace any expensive stuff like that. Indeed, I did place it in the cupboard with the proof of the CCTV. after all the mess, I realised it was because of the mismatch of serial numbers that was given to me. Fuck my life seriously.

after so many times of repeating all these and that, its damn infuriating to see that wrong information are always given to customers because things that you don't know, you don't even bother to ask anyone of us.

I'm not trying to say I'm damn smart and that I would pin people down, but at least I must say I had the heart to learn when I was newborn, and that the rest of the people did taught me well. even until now, I'm still learning as much as I can just to adapt myself more. I made grave mistakes too, but I learnt them after what they told me where I've gone wrong.

but you, the one without the heart to learn, have repeated the same mistakes time and again. do you really learn the things you've done wrong?

15 June 2010 - When Repetition is of No Use

2 months back, I was a newbie in the Sales industries. I took half the month learning to do sales, picking up little skills in selling notebooks and netbooks. I had colleagues teaching me patiently how to go about doing sales.

I felt fortunate. of course, I spent a lot of effort reading general information about the current IT knowledge so that I know what I'm selling. my in-charge is proud of me, and that he is confident that I would be able to cope well alone. afterall they taught me a lot, and I picked up most of the stuffs fast. they helped me close deals whenever I was a little bit lost, until I started to get used to it.
I was on my own after 2 to 4 weeks and I achieved my target the following month. I felt exuberant, because that calls for more money, and proved that they taught me well, in addition to my own effort that I put in so much for.

few weeks back, another newbie came into the showroom, a female. she had zero knowledge about everything, we had to teach her, just like how I was taught. I told myself that it is my duty that I should teach her everything I know step by step, and thats where things started to get offhand.

until now, she has difficulty doing sales. I didn't know where the problem was, but it got me very frustrated. we have a cost book there, and basically its there for a reason. but apparently she did not use that important cost book often, thus she can't do her sales well, because she either quote the price wrongly or did not explain the specs in detail. almost all of her sales had to be closed with the help from colleagues even until now, as though we are the ones doing the sales from the very beginning.

I almost flared up in the morning, when a customer came looking for a specific laptop. he agreed to buy like almost immediately after she served him for just a minute or two. I was busy doing my stuffs, but could sense there was something wrong. typical customers wouldn't agree to buy a notebook that readily, so I went to asked her what that guy was looking for. she referred to the cost book, but she quoted the cost price instead of the selling price. what more can I say? I couldn't figure out why she could make such a huge blunder when everything was printed there so nicely for reference.

the rest are busy with their after-PC-show stuffs, and I'm the only one who can teach her right now. but time and again I said the same thing over and over again, she couldn't put her mind into listening. I started pondering whether its my fault, for not teaching her well or was it because she is much slower, or perhaps unable to follow instructions too well.

I'm at a loss whether I should continue teaching her, or just let her learn everything by herself, or probably see if anyone else would teach her. I see no point in teaching someone who can't learn after repeating the same thing over again, especially if its something so simple and have no complicating equations or sorts involved. maybe I should stop afterall, even if it means playing a role of an ass.

14 June 2010 - When Alarm is of No Use

as you can see from the title itself, I was late for work today because I was too tired and couldn't wake up even when the alarm rang crazily.

I reported to work only 2 hours later, which was totally madness. I hope I would be excused just this once though...? possible or not lol.

what a damn tiring day. time practically flew today.

Those who remember their friends' birthday either have great memory or that they really know their friends well.
